I can't tell you how many books, tapes, and cd's I've listened to over the years to improve my numbers only to be disappointed by the latest and greatest "selling techniques". Why do I keep buying them then? That's a good question. I'm just like everyone else I guess I want an "easy" way to make my fortune. I got caught in every trap imaginable, from selling Amway in high school, to Pre Paid Legal as an adult. Now I'm not bashing Network marketing so please don't be offended if that's how you make a living. I was just sick of going to my friends and asking them "try my product". But for the last decade I've worked for some pretty big companies and small ones too, as an outside sales guy. Either I quit for a new and "better" position ( only to be disappointed by a idiot manager) or quit before I got fired. Why? I wasn't always like this. I think I have found the answer though. I've made the whole process too complicated and have taken too many new ideas and have tried to lump them together. This is just a theory. I've forgot to remember the tried and true KISS. I need a new plan of attack and would like some fresh and simple daily plans from our younger members who are successful with sales (not retail). I need to get back to the basics and build from there. Thanks

I don't have any easy answers for you, but I do think there's a lot to be said for simply mastering the fundamentals.

I'm with you and going back to the basics. At the begining of this year I was trying to balance my career, a side job selling t-shirts, selling gift albums, getting sponsorships for the chamber of commerce (which pays), and studing pre-forclosure investing. I finally decided that I was just spread too thin and now I'm focusing on advancing my career and my gift album side project. I figure my career foremost because it's the only sure way that i'll make money....and hopefully I can see some results by focusing on one side project instead of doing so many. good luck!

Welcome to millionairesville!

I can certainly relate to your experience, and I think you've got a good approach there. Don't sacrifice what you have that you know makes money. And don't spread yourself too thin, either. It's soooo easy to come up with half a dozen side projects. Wink
